Catherine Funderburk
Amory, Miss.—Mary Catherine Funderburk, 85, died on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Born January 11, 1929 in Monroe County she was a daughter of Leonard Alfonso and Betty Frances Lay West. She attended Quincy Schools and was married to Elbert Funderburk. A woman of faith, she was a member of the New Hope Methodist Church where she served as treasurer and song leader later becoming a member of the Paine Memorial Methodist Church. With a strong will, she enjoyed her independence and enjoyed spending time with her family. Before her retirement, she worked in the garment plant and was also owner/operator of The Village Green in Amory for many years. Her hobbies included cooking, gardening, and going out to eat.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Rev. Sammy Washburn and Rev. Tom Sheffield officiating. Burial will be in the Durrett Cemetery.
Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Danny Funderburk; 3 brothers, Roy, Albert, and Bo West; and 4 sisters, Virgie Boyd, Mildred Boyd, Marie Pointer, and Dorothy Crump.
Pallbearers will be Ron Crump, Lynn Crump, Will Pate, Wes Pate, Jared Camp, Andrew Allen, Donna Pate, and Lee Crump.
Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. on Friday evening and will continue until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
