Aberdeen - Carolyn S. Foster Townsend, 55, passed away at her residence on Thursday, February 2, 2017. Born on June 21, 1961, in Houston, MS, she was a daughter of the late Ervin Howl and Helen Louise Hawkins Foster.
Carolyn attended Hatley High School. Growing up working in her family’s business, Foster Upholstery, she was a talented upholsterer. Carolyn was raised in the Pentecostal church. On August 13, 2016, she married Pruitt Townsend. Sweet, loving and full of passion, she dearly loved her family and especially enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren. Carolyn loved being together as family, keeping in contact with her family, and singing with her family.
She had the gift of making people laugh. Having a contagious spirit, Carolyn touched many people and left them feeling happy and good about themselves. With her husband, they enjoyed shopping, yard selling and riding in the car. Her favorite music was Gospel, Blues and anything by Tyler Perry. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, flower gardening, fishing and working on vehicles with her husband. Carolyn was extremely proud of her son serving in the US Army. During her two battles with cancer, she was an overcomer and a fighter. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband and best friend, James Pruitt Townsend, Aberdeen; daughters, Jessica Nichole Foster, Aberdeen, Amanda Kilgo, Tupelo; son, SPC Nathan Kilgo (Lindsay), US Army, Verona; step-daughters, Renee Townsend, Tupelo, & Heather Kilgo, Miami, FL; grandchildren, James Ethan West, Alexis Briana Foster Andrews, T. J. Gates, Nathan Williams, Lillian Kilgo, & Emrie Kilgo; step-grandchildren, Ocean Wilson, Oceanna Wilson, O’Marion Wilson; sisters, Patricia Stanford (Kenny), Aberdeen, and Dorothy Cummings (Ernie), Amory; brothers, Bobby Henry Foster, Aberdeen, and Steve Foster (Nancy), Amory; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Ashley Busby and Freddie Williams.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Shawn Kilgo, Lillie Foster & Jesse Foster; niece, Elizabeth Foster; nephew, Robert “RoRo” Head; sisters, Louise Head & Jean Parish; brothers, Jimmy, James and Paul Foster; & sister-in-law, Lisa Gail Foster.
Her Funeral Service will be at 3 PM, Sunday, February 5 at Bethel Apostolic Church with Pastor Stanley Blaylock officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Bobby Ervin Head; Dwaine Foster, Chris Foster, Walter Foster, Micheal "Bubba" Foster; Ocean Wilson, Timothy Parish, and Charles Foster.
Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM, Saturday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory.
