Amory - Carolyn Kay Howard Lockhart, 74, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at North Mississippi Medical Center-Gilmore in Amory, MS. She was born on September 14, 1948, in Amory, MS to the late William Earnest Howard and Lonie Bell Camp Howard.
Carolyn grew up in Monroe County and was a proud graduate of Hatley High School with the class of 1966. She married the love of her life, Albert I. "Buddy" Lockhart on May 14, 1966 and they were blessed with three children. Carolyn was a caring mother and took care of everyone. In addition to being a great homemaker, she worked to help support her family. Carolyn was a seamstress for Red Cap Industries as well as Amory Garment until she retired in 1995. Her family call themselves blessed to have such a supportive and loving mother and grandmother. Her other favorite job was taking care of her cherished grandchildren. She loved that job.
A woman who always put others before herself, she was a great example of how a Christian should live out their faith. She was Baptist and after God she loved her family and friends fiercely. Some of her close friends were Sandra Tubb, Janet Goudelock, and Maebell Row and they often played cards together as well as shopped til they dropped. In her down time she enjoyed listening to Elton John, Elvis, the Beatles and Rod Stewart. Carolyn also enjoyed getting lost in a good book, with John Grisham being her favorite author.
Her greatest achievements in her life would be the love and time she invested in her family and friends. They are so grateful for all that she did for them through the years and the legacy of love she left behind. They look forward to the day they are reunited and until then they will cherish the memories.
She survived by her daughter, Kim Tallent, Amory; son, Anthony D. Lockhart (Cindy), Amory; five grandchildren, Drew Holcomb (Cat), Justin Lockhart, Will Tallant, Tyler Tallent, and Hunter Lockhart (Camryn); two great-grandchildren, Macayla and Nikki Holcomb.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert I. "Buddy" Lockhart; her son, Gerry Albert Lockhart; and her sister, Judy Fay Welch.
