Phil Campbell, AL – Carol Turner Poss, 67, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015, at Russellville Hospital, Russellville, AL. Born on March 10, 1948, in Fayette, AL, she was a daughter of Warren Young Turner and the late Virginia May Turner.
Carol graduated from Aberdeen High School, Class of 1966. On June 19, 1966, she married Bobby Joe Poss at First Baptist Church, Prairie. Having taught school at Vardaman Elementary for 15 years, Carol had worked as a reading coach for 12 years with the S.P.A.N. Program for Franklin County, AL. An active member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church, she had served as a Sunday school teacher and the church pianist. Carol was passionate about being with her family, especially her grandchildren, and teaching and touching the lives of her many students. She enjoyed playing games, watching games shows, and watching Ole Miss football and baseball games.
Survivors include her husband, best friend, and soulmate, Bobby Joe Poss, Phil Campbell, AL; daughter, Jennifer Duncan (Chris), Vardaman; grandchildren, Isaac, Jacob, Gracie, and Josiah Duncan; brother, Tobby Turner (Malinda), Aberdeen; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a sister, Cathy Whitaker.
Her Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Bro. Chris Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Wren Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daniel Williams, Jeff Grubbs, Danny Bickerstaff, Ethan Turner, Jamie Harris, Derrick Scott, Tony Poss and Phillip Waycaster.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Monday, and 10 AM until the service hour Tuesday at the funeral home.
