Carla Wall Cadden

Amory – Carla Yvonne Wall Cadden, 63, died on Sunday, April 13, 2014, at North MS Medical Center Hospice, Tupelo. Born on March 5, 1951, in Starkville, she was a daughter of Tommy and Carrie Freeman Wall.

Growing up, Carla lived in Starkville, Holcomb, MO, and Thibodaux, LA, graduating from Thibodaux High School in 1969, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. Upon graduation, she attended Nicholls State University, Thibodaux. Working as a telephone operator for South Central Bell in Houma, LA, she transferred to work in the Columbus office. On weekends, she would visit her grandparents and aunt, Mary Turner (Charles) in Amory. Through her matchmaker, Aunt Mary, Carla met her husband, Homer Reed “Ricky” Cadden, Jr., son of Homer and Mamie Cadden.

Carla and Ricky were married on June 21, 1974, and lived a very full life. Ricky worked for Exxon and on offshore oil rigs. He worked in Bergen, Norway, and Thibodaux, LA. They made lifelong friends while in Norway, loved to travel and see new countries, and were very generous people. Carla was a member of the Church of Christ, being baptized at age 9 in Holcomb. Faithful, she loved her church family like her own, especially the church in Houma. Carla taught children’s and women’s Bible classes, planned special retreats, organized Ladies’ Days, and served as a camp cook. She excelled at planning and organization for the church. Having a great mind for memorialization, Carla always remembered family and friends’ birthdays and special occasions. Having battled various illnesses for the last several years, Carla is now at peace.

She is survived by her parents of Amory; children, Erica Zook (Matt), Ft. Myers, FL, and James Aaron Cadden (Ginger Poarch), Amory; grandchildren, Natalie and Rachel Zook and Moses and Edith Cadden; siblings, Steve Wall, Thibodaux, LA, Davan Walton (Michael), Shreveport, LA, Laurie Bates (Daryl), Fredericksburg, VA, Teddie Butcher, Hoover, AL, and Tim Wall (Molly), Laurel; brother-in-law, Roger Cadden (Peggy), Amory and their children, Austin and Valerie; sisters-in-law, Cathy Cadden, and Dee Cadden Close, and her son, Matthew.
