Carl Edgar "Jake" Lesley

Amory – Carl Edgar “Jake” Lesley, 75, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Sanctuary Hospice House, Tupelo, MS. He was born on November 25, 1940, in Peppertown, MS, he was a son of the late Barto and Eunice Williams Lesley.

Carl attended school in Dorsey, Mississippi. At an early age he entered the workforce where he worked on a farm in Peppertwon, MS and he also worked in a grocery store til he was 17 years of age. Carl grew up on a farm and he was a good honest hardworking man. He could fix anything you put in front of him. During his lifetime, he worked many places, including Northbrook Plastic in Illinois; John Manvill as a tool maker and machinist; Cramco in the tool and die and as a leadman; Eljar Plumingware as a machinist leadman; and finally at Arvin before working at Alsteel. He worked his final years as Maintenance Supervisor for Alsteel in Verona, MS. Carl was of the Baptist Faith. He loved the outdoors and he enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time. He often claimed that he caught some of the all times biggest Bass and Crappie fish yet he released them back so he could catch them again. He did get the Bass Angler award for two years. Carl loved worshiping God through Gospel music and he also enjoyed country music. He liked to watch football and Nascar racing. His dogs held a special place in his heart.

He is survived by his best friend, Frances Lesley, Amory; daughter, Carla Norwood, Pontotoc; sister, Wanda Taylor, Amory; brothers, Charles Lesley (Dorothy), Red Bay, William Carol Lesley (Denise), Mantachie; Grandchild, Michael Chad Vaughn, Amory; a host of Nieces and Nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother James Lesley; sister, Mildred Brown; Grandson, Randell Welford.
