Pensacola, Florida — Carl Hathcock, 85, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2017, at his residence, in the arms of his family after a three-and-half year battle with Lymphoma. Born on September 8, 1931, he was a son of the late Osia C. and Vela Leach Hathcock.
Carl attended school in Aberdeen and went on to serve in the United States Army at Ft. Huachuaca, Arizona, where he served as a Heavy Equipment Instructor. He married the love of his life, Judy K. Counts, on January 30, 1968. He was blessed with three children. He was self-employed during his lifetime and he was a jack of all trades. There was nothing he couldn’t fix or build. He was a Mechanic Machinist, a Boatwright, a Salesman, and an Inventor. He was a free spirit who lived life to the fullest. He spent his last years enjoying boating, dreaming of sailing away, and playing with his grandchildren which kept him from doing so. Carl was a wonderful grandfather, father and husband who will be missed dearly by all that knew and loved him.
His survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Judy; sons, Keith Hathcock, TX, David Hathcock (Greysy),Pensecola, FL; daughter, Renee Choate (Hoyt), KY; a host of grandchildren; a niece and two nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Doris Hathcock and Ann Hathcock.
A Graveside Funeral Service for Carl will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 24, 2017, at New Hope Cemetery, Hatley, with son, Keith Hathcock and son, David Hathcock officiating. Pallbearers will be his family and friends.
Visitation will be on Thursday evening from 5-7 pm at the funeral home and then on Friday from 12-1:30 pm at the funeral home.
