Amory- Carey “Captain” Robinson, 74, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at his home. Born August 30, 1938, he was a son of the late Woodie and Juanita Redd Robinson. He married Betty Ann Cates.
Mr. Robinson was grew up in and attended school in Coahoma County. After school, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. Moving to Amory, he was a welder at Palmer Bodies. Being forever changed by the birth of his grandchildren, they were the light of his life. Possessing the gift of gab, Mr. Robinson never met a stranger. A staple around Amory, with his white sailors hat, he enjoyed drinking coffee with the night crew at Exxon, and considered the Amory P.D. officers as his buddies.
He is survived by his daughter, Carol Robinson Bray (Billy), Becker; son Alan Robinson, Helena, MT; sisters, Grace Moore, Clytee Smith, and Eloise Foster; one brother, Don Robinson; grandchildren, Anthony Bray (Crystal), Wren and Tiffany Bray Ridings (Josh), Cason; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Robinson.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, March 30, 2013 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Mac Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Anthony Bray, Wesley Robinson, Josh Ridings, and Willie Myatt. Honorary pallbearers will be the Amory Police Department.
Visitation will be prior the service on Saturday, from 11 AM- 12:45 PM.
