Brenda Kay Whitlock
Stone Mountain, GA – Brenda Kay Whitlock, 81, had a sweet reunion with her husband Ruble, when she passed away on December 18, 2022. She was born on November 14, 1941, in Nettleton, MS, to the late Corbett Buel Bickerstaff and Jennie Deree Monaghan Bickerstaff.
Kay attended school in Amory and on November 21, 1957, she married the love of her life Ruble Whitlock. Briefly living in California, they returned to Amory for a couple years and then in 1972, they moved to Stone Mountain, GA. As a couple, Kay co-owned and operated Village Upholstery in Stone Mountain with her husband, until they retired in 2008.
During her lifetime, she was blessed with five children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her whole family. An amazing hostess, she often had large gatherings at her house and everyone always enjoyed themselves. She believed in God and was a Christian who loved others as Christ directed. Her family and large extended family meant the world to her and they will always remember all the great memories through the years.
Kay will be missed yet her family knows that she is healed completely. Her family is thankful for all the wonderful times they shared.
She is survived by her daughters, Gay Kersh, Sone Mountain, GA, Sandra Andrews, Stone Mountain, GA, and Michelle Crompton, Conyers, GA; son, Charlie Whitlock, Covington, GA; grandchildren, Cory Kersh, Chris Kersh, Chad Kersh, Tony Andrews, Jake Andrews, Jesse Andrews, Clint Crompton, Kristina Crompton, Nick Crompton, Charlies Whitlock, Jr., and Kimberly Whitlock; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Layla, Olivia, Lily, Hayley, Maddie, Oaklynn, Charlie III, and Jeremiah; sister, Cheryl Umfress; brother, Joe Bickerstaff.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ruble G. Whitlock; her child, Ricky Whitlock; son-in-laws, David Kersh and Andy Andrews; great-granddaughter, Amelia Whitlock.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 2:00 pm at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, MS. Burial will follow in Amory Historical Society Cemetery, Amory, MS with her Pallbearers being her grandsons. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday from 12:00 pm until the service hour at the funeral home in Amory, MS.
