Amory – Brenda Elaine Capps, 66, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2015, at her residence surrounded by her family. Born on November 14, 1948, in Amory, she was a daughter of the late John Noel and Geneva Capps Howard.
Brenda attended Zion-Benton Township High School. On April 6, 1969, she married the love of her life, James D. “Sonny” Capps, Sr. Before retiring as the office manager from Metrocast after 15 years of service, Brenda had worked at Amwood and Johnson Building Supply. Loving, bubbly, and full-of-life, she was a strong lady who fought a courageous battle with cancer. Always placing others first, Brenda was very unselfish and a giver of her time, talents, and resources. She loved her family and enjoyed the wonderful bond she shared with her son. Brenda was passionate about the American Cancer Society and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. An avid reader and book series collector, she enjoyed working on her computer and listening to music by Elvis, Kenny Rogers, and Lionel Richie. Brenda's favorite saying was, "Everything is going to be okay,... just put on a little lipstick."
Survivors include her son, James David “Jamey” Capps, Jr. (Becky), Amory; sisters, Ann Welch, Amory, Betty Harper (Billy), Winthrop Harbor, and Kay Moffett (Ricky), Smithville; brother, Richard Howard (Diane), Vero Beach, FL; grandchildren, Zakk Stovall (Stephanie), Caitlyn Capps Young (Jacob), Josh Capps, Austin Capps, Shannon Staten, and Jake Staten; 2 great-grandchild; several nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 43 years.
Her Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM, Monday, June 8 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Bro. Danny Burks officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Randy, Gary, Steve, and Dennis Welch; and Jason and Brandon Moffett.
The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Christopher Croot and Community Hospice.
Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM, Sunday and from Noon until the service hour Monday at the funeral home.
