Bonny Faye Parham
AMORY -- Bonny Faye Parham, 75, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at
Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center in Amory. She was born on May
7, 1937, to the late Maudie Parham Harden and John Sharp Parham in the Parham community of Monroe County. She graduated from Hatley High School as salutatorian
in 1955. She worked at South Central Bell in Birmingham before joining
the U.S. Air Force. She was married to the late Arthur Cuthbert.
Following her military service, she lived in New Jersey before moving
back to Monroe County in 1963.
She began working for her step-father T.D. Harden’s newspaper,
The Amory Advertiser, in 1963 and learned all aspects of the trade,
beginning as a reporter and later becoming editor. She retired from
the paper later known as The Monroe Journal in 2001 as advertising
sales manager. She took great pride in her grandson Josh and loved Monroe County and
its people and her dog Boo.
Services will be at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory on Friday
at 11 a.m. with Bro. Dale Funderburg and Bro. Jimmy Criddle officiating. Visitation will be
from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
She is survived by one son, Doug Cuthbert (Sheree) of
Wellington, FL; a sister, Bobbie Jean Amos of Carrolton, GA; a
step-brother Jimmy Brown (Martha) of Hatley; a step-sister Julia Rae
Parham (Herbert) of the Parham community; and a grandson, Josh
Cuthbert of Wellington, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Douglas
O’Neal Parham; step-father, T.D. Harden; and step-mother, Ollie Bell Parham.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Jackson, David Pickle, Dennis Pickle, Bill Thomas, Danny Roberson, Gerald Standifer, Johnny Cantrell, and Skip Miles.
