Amory - Bonnie Sue Tate, 72, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2016, at her residence. Born on January 13, 1944, in Amory, she was a daughter of the late Malcolm Durwood and Bessie Mae Anderson Mitchell.
Bonnie was a graduate of Amory High School, 1962. On December 21, 1962, she married the love of her life, James R. Tate, and they were blessed with three children. After 28 years of service at NBC, Bonnie retired as branch manager and later worked part-time for an additional 15 years at Renasant Bank. Having a contagious smile, she was nice to everyone. Dedicated and one who loved her job, Bonnie thoroughly enjoyed serving her many numerous friends and customers at both banks.
Bonnie devoted her entire life to her Savior, her husband, and her family. Currently a member of First Baptist Church, she had graciously served as church pianist at Unity Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church for over 50 years. Full of joy, Bonnie was always content and full of peace with the Lord’s blessings. She loved Gospel hymns, going to estate sales, traveling with old friends on ladies church outings. Bonnie was most proud of her 54 year commitment to her husband, 3 children and her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, James R. Tate, Amory; daughter, Kim Tate Roesink (Tim), Columbus, OH; sons, Bill Tate (Mary) and Brad Tate (Sandra) of Amory; grandchildren, Kayla Tate, Columbus; Tyler Tate, Amory; Tate and Connor Roesink, Columbus, OH; brothers, James Mitchell (Doris), Amory, and Ralph Mitchell (Shelby Jean), Smithville; brother-in-law, Roy Bates, Mantachie; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Bates.
Her Funeral Service will be at 2 PM, Sunday, December 11 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Dr. Allen Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Tyler Tate; Tate and Connor Roesink; Mark, Earnest and Herman Mitchell; Robert Tate; Jon Alexander.
Visitation will be from 5 – 7 PM, Saturday at the funeral home.
