Aberdeen – Bonnie L. Buchanan, 85, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2016, at the Care Center of Aberdeen. Born November 11, 1930, in Brewer, she was a daughter the late Gilbert Walter and Jewel Gray Davis.

While growing up, her favorite school was Shannon School. She also attended Becker School. A strong and self-reliant lady full of unconditional love, Mrs. Buchanan sacrificed for her family. Dedicated and a hard-worker, she was a seamstress with Amory Garment for 40+ years. A lady of strong Christian faith, she was a devoted member of Wren Presbyterian Church, where she had taught Sunday school and was active in the Women’s Group.

Passionate about her family, Mrs. Buchanan loved family dinners and fellowship on Sunday’s, Easter, and Thanksgiving. Bonnie was a joyful and funny woman who was blessed greatly by God with a large and wonderful family. She loved being outdoors enjoying God’s beautiful creations, especially watching butterflies. Her favorite music was “The Gaithers” and her hobbies were crocheting and working crossword puzzles.

Her Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Rev. Sandra Sisson officiating. Burial will follow in Wren. Pallbearers will be Dale Langford, Robbie Buchanan, Don Davis, Art Buchanan, Brad Barr and Ed Tomlin. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Brown and Staff at Care Center of Aberdeen.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Tuesday, October 18 at the funeral home.

Survivors include her daughters, Bonnie Sue Jenkins, Wren, and Janice Duncan (Herb), West Point; sons, Robert Clyde Buchanan (Mary Lee), Aberdeen, and Mark Buchanan (Bonnie), Aberdeen; sister, Syble Thornton, Becker; brother, J. W. Davis, Amory; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Langford and Frances Hall; and brothers, Hershel and Gene Davis.
