Winchester, TN - Robert Charles “Bobby” Stevenson peacefully passed away at his home in Winchester, Tennessee, on October 3, 2017. Bobby was born on October 5, 1947, in New Albany, Mississippi, and was preceded in death by his parents J.R. and Ruth B. Stevenson.
When Bobby was in the sixth grade, his family moved to Amory, Mississippi, where he attended school and later reared his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Peggy Meredith Stevenson; two brothers, Rick (Laurie) Amory and Johnny (Cathy) Becker; and three children, Jeff (Marie) Decherd, TN, Jon (Lori) Huntsville, AL, and Jamie (Randall) Chattanooga, TN. He is also survived by his much-loved grandchildren: Eli, Anna, and Chet Stevenson.
Bobby, a lifelong member of Amory First United Methodist Church, worked 27 years for the Frisco-Burlington Northern Railroad. An avid golfer, Bobby enjoyed woodworking, iron working, and welding. A dedicated family man, he spent much time with his children and grandchildren and his grand dog Oliver. Fishing, hunting, watching sports events, and visiting with his many friends were also activities Bobby enjoyed.
On Monday, October 9, at Amory First United Methodist Church, the celebration of Bobby’s life will begin with visitation at 12:00 p.m. and follow with a service at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be at Masonic Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Tommy Cole, Jimmy Forbus, Jimmy Glenn, Charlie Jones, Mike McDaniel, and Frank Peeler.
Honorary Pallbearers are members of the Country Boys Breakfast Club.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First United Methodist Church, PO Box 147; St. Helen Catholic Church, PO Box 97; or a charity of your choice.
