Amory – Bobby Neal Reeves, 81, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2016, at Merit Health Gilmore Memorial Hospital, Amory, MS. Born on June 1, 1935, in Amory, he was a son of the late Willie Neil and Trudie Adams Reeves.
Bobby graduated from Amory High School, Class of 1954. On April 28, 1956, he married the love of his life, Helen Moss and together they were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Amy. He was a great provider for his family and he worked at Shumpert Truck and drove for many years with Roadway Express. In addition to working, for 10 years, he served our country in the US Army National Guard. Even though he retired in 2000 from Roadway, he continued to work for them part time until 2010.
Having a contagious smile and a heart of gold, Bobby was a loving, gentle and kind man who was full of joy. A humble gentleman with a strong Christian faith, he was a man of his word and was always serving other people. Bobby was a member of First Baptist Church, Amory, where he was a Deacon and had taught 11th grade boys Sunday school class for 37 years. He loved his God, his wife, and his family. Bobby was especially passionate about his grandchildren. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, farming, raising cows, gardening, and rooting plants.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen Reeves, Amory; daughter, Amy Ford (Dewayne), Greenwood Springs; grandchildren, Matthew and Megan Ford; sisters-in-law, Sherry Moss Faulkner, Becker, and Betty Reeves, Smithville; brother-in-law, Richard Moss; nieces and nephews, Kevin Faulkner, Heather Thompson (Toby), Jess Faulkner (Whitney), Sheadon Thompson, and Morgan and Walker Mitchell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Don Reeves, and a nephew, James Donald Reeves.
His Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, November 29, at First Baptist Church, Amory, with Dr. Allen Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Palmer, Danny Coleman, Woody Brand, Jerry Reese, Paul Knox and Steven Reeves. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of First Baptist Church and members of his Sunday school class.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Monday, November 28, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, and from 11:45 AM – 12:45 PM, Tuesday, at the church.
