Bobby Ray Smith

Amory – Bobby Ray Smith, 79, passed on September 21, 2022, at North Mississippi Medical Center, Amory, MS. He was born on August 12, 1943, in Memphis, TN to the late Leroy Jones and Bessie Faye Gilmore Jones.

Bobby was born in Memphis Tennessee and went to Humes High School He then went on to attend Memphis State University where he was a member of the track team. He began a career in Memphis where he was a Manager at the Easy Way Grocery in downtown Memphis. He was a hard worker and he became the Manager of Easy Way Produce. Bobby was proud of his accomplishments in management at Easy Way and he was a dedicated employee.

He was a Southern Baptist and believed in God. During his life, he was blessed with a son, a wife, and a large family. Bobby was energetic, athletic, funny, and loved his family. He cared about children and was passionate about supporting St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. In his free time, he liked to watch and play sports, listening to country music, and collecting coins.

Bobby will be missed by his family and friends. They will cherish the memories made with him forever.

He was survived by his son, Bobby Joplin (Lisa), Southaven, MS; sister, Linda Ingalsbe, Illinois; grandchild, Jacob Wirth; half-brothers, RogerJones (Sandra), Caledonia, Robert Jones (Susan), Amory; half-sister, Brenda Gilchrest New Boston Tx JoAnn Forister, (Memphis, TN). half-sister Brenda Wood (Mississippi), and he was preceded in death by his half-brother Garry Jones, (Mississippi). He is survived by his stepmother Bernice Jones.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lizette Schilling Smith.
