Amory – Bobby Noel Mathies, 71, died on Monday, May 4, 2015, at his residence. Born in Amory on December 28, 1943, he was a son of the late Lesley N. and Mary M. Harris Mathies.
Bobby attended school in Amory and went to work at a young age. On August 26, 1967 he married Levie Neomi Mathies and they were happily married for 47 years. He worked at Parham Gin and Puckett Lumber Company. He was a member of the Church of Christ and he enjoyed watching Channel 39 preaching. He loved children and his closest friends were Carolyn and Heather Rollison. In his free time, he liked to listen to gospel and country music. He also liked to spend time with his nieces and nephews and watching TV.
Survivors include his wife, Levie, Amory; sisters, Vicky Threadgill (Luther), Gattman, Glenda Plaxico, Amory, Dean Reeves (Harvey), Wren, Mary Wells, Wren, Wendy Pierce, Wren; brothers, Wesley Pierce, Wren, Billy Pierce (Gail), Wren, and Robert Pierce (Jan), Wren; niece, Benjie Powell; nephews, Les and Bruce Threadgill.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Mathies; niece, Lisa Powell; nephew, Bobby Plaxico.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Mr. Philip Hathcock officiating. Burial will follow in Hatley Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home.
