Bobby Joe Harlow

Amory – Bobby J. Harlow, 75, passed away at his residence and met his Savior face to face on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. He was born on September 30, 1948 in Lee County, Mississippi to the late John Henry Harlow and Dorothy Kimble Harlow Burgess.

Bobby was a fun loving and full of life person who was outspoken at times and very dedicated to his family. He was a hard worker and at a young age went into the construction industry owning his own Home Improvement and Roofing Business. At Kingsport furniture factory, he was a supervisor and ensured the job got done right every time.

When he wasn’t working, he was busy. Bobby liked to tinker with things, as well as horseback riding and four wheeler riding. He also liked going to auctions looking for special deals, watching westerns, being outside hunting and fishing. He enjoyed listening to Old rock music as well as Country Western Music. Bobby was a family man and he coached and umpired many softball games in Monroe County through the years.

He loved the Lord and his greatest accomplishment in life was being saved and letting the Lord into his life. He was of the Baptist faith. Second to his faith, his family was his priority, pride and joy. Bobby was giving and selfless and always put his Lord and family first. He married his wife, Shirley, in August of 1997 and they spent many happy years together. Bobby was blessed with many children, both his own and ones the Lord introduced into his life and he loved them all. He had so many grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and Bobby cherished them all.

Living life to the fullest was something he did with ease and no matter what troubles came his way, he still made the best of every situation. One could always hear him say things like “Hey Dude” or just “What about it?” to start a conversation with anyone. Some of his closest friends were his brothers, Jim and John. They loved to hunt and fish together and gardened, growing vegetables for the whole family to enjoy.

He will be missed dearly by his huge family and they will cherish all the memories made through the years with him.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Harlow, Hatley; daughters, Mandy Harlow Oliver (Lee), Amory, Emily Harlow, Amory; son, William Harlow, Hatley; step-daughter, Amber McKay (Zack), Amory; step-son, Kenny Bryant ( Rachel), Amory; grandchildren, Bella and Jesse Oliver; Braydon Bynum; Brenna, Peyton, Emma, Abby, Aiden, Landon, Janna, Tish Lynch (Cody), Keith, Kayla, Kenny, and Kerri Ann; great-grandchildren, Jace, Malaya, Koltyn, and Kyler; brother, John Harlow (Donna); nieces and nephews, Michael Harlow, Lori Pressley, Jenny Harris, Pam and Johnny Thompson, Ricki Harlow, Vicki Harlow, Chris Harlow, Misti Burgess.
