Becker – Billy Eugene Thornton, 87, died on Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at his residence. Born on September 25, 1927, in Monroe County, he was a son of the late Willie Basil and Fannie Mae Harmon Thornton.

Mr. Thornton attended Becker School. He honorably served in the US Army during World War II. In 1977, he retired from American Motors, Kenosha, WI. He was Baptist and a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Syble Thornton, Becker; daughter, Sara Willis (Richard), Aberdeen; son, Bo Thornton, Dallas, TX; grandson, Todd Willis, Louisville; nephews, Ronnie and Robert Thornton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Basil Thornton and a nephew, Rory Thornton.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, October 4 in Haughton Memorial Park with Dr. Roy McHenry officiating. Pallbearers will be Todd Willis, Robert Clyde Buchanan, Sam Hand, Lynn Pigford and Ray Wright.

Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Friday at the funeral home. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:30 AM, Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery.
