Billy R. Tate
Amory, Miss.—Billy Roy Tate, 74, died on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at his home. Born July 21, 1941, he was a son of Roy and Velena Rusoe Tate. He married Irene Gilmore. Before his retirement, he was chief of security at True Temper Sports in Amory. Known as a conversationalist, he enjoyed visiting friends and family and he enjoyed hunting, trading, watching football, collecting records and old bottles.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Bro. Chuck Moffett officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Tate and Billy Joe Tate both of Amory; 3 grandchildren, Pamela Tate, April Tate, and Brittney Stanford; and 2 great grandchildren, Audrianna Swan and Cooper Swan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irene Tate; one son, Larry Wayne Tate; 3 sisters, Mary Wade, Edna Faye Harris, and Betty Pearson; and 3 brothers, Tony Tate, Donnie Tate, and David Lee Harris.
Pallbearers will be Prentiss Wigginton, Andy Farrar, Clyde Hodges, Clarence Reynolds, and Kenny Horne.
Visitation will continue until service time at the funeral home.
