Amory – Billy Sizemore, 88, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, Mississippi. He was born on September 6, 1935, in Monroe County to the late Robert June Sizemore and Annie Lou Guest Sizemore.

Billy grew up in Monroe County, graduated from High School and attended some college before working. He was a hard worker, retiring in 2004, after working 52 years at Amory Garment and subsequently Block Corporation. He worked as an Executive Vice President for the company and was proud of his career.

He was a patriot and served in the Army National Guard as a First Sergeant, E-7, with his service being his proudest contribution to his country. He received many medals and training including the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, and he was a Sharp Shooter. Despite being a tough man, with a tremendous work ethic, he often told other “Old Age Is Not for Sissys”.

A wonderful husband, father and friend, Billy was a people person as well as an animal lover. On June 25, 1983, he married the love of his life, Betty Johnson Sizemore and they had 40 wonderful years together. They enjoyed many fun vacations together to Gatlinburg and Cades Cove and other different places.

He attended First Baptist Church in Amory and he loved God with all his heart. In his downtime, he loved driving his Mustangs which he owned through the years. He was an avid Ole Miss fan and often talked sports, politics, and solved the world’s problems with his Hardee’s coffee friends in times past. He liked old Rock’ n’ Roll music as well as Old Country music. He also enjoyed a good book, especially any novel by John Grisham.

Billy was a wonderful man who loved his God, family and friends. He will be missed greatly yet his loved ones know that he is healed and in peace.

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty, Amory; daughters, Mitzi Sizemore, Amory, Matissa (Bo) Pullen (Trey), Punta Gorda, Florida; grandchildren, Bob Pullen, Durham, NC, Katie Brokaw (Chasen), Nicaragua, Mattie Fliedner (Flo), Florida; great-grandchildren, Alex Brokaw and Bailey Brokaw; sister, Alline Rock (David).

In addition to his parents, his was preceded in death by brother, Bobby Joe Sizemore.

A Celebration of Life Service with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 2:00 pm, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Dr. Allen Simpson officiating. Burial will follow at Haughton Memorial Park, Amory, MS. Pallbearers will be Timothy Heal, Rick Stanford, Bill Griffith, Rick Sizemore, Garon Belk, Noah Heal, and Devon Heal. Honorary Pallbearers will be any employees of Amory Garment.

The Family would like to thank Sanctuary Hospice for the wonderful care given to him. A Special Thanks to Legacy Hospice Nurses and the Nurses Assistants for their kindness and compassion. They will always be remembered with love. Memorials may be made to the Amory Humane Society.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until the service hour at 2:00 pm at the funeral home in Amory.
