Amory---Mr. Billy James Prestage, 52, passed away at Merit Health Gilmore Memorial Hospital on February 10, 2017. Born on February 16, 1964, in Aberdeen, Mississippi, he was a son of Martha Roberts Prestage and the late L.C. Prestage.
Billy attended Okolona Elementary school and Pontotoc High School. He attended the Assembly of God Church and was employed by Fastening Solutions of Amory for 10 years.
Billy was an outdoorsman. He loved to fish for catfish and deer hunt especially with his close friend, Eddie Sanders. He was a lifelong Mississippi State Fan. In his spare time Billy enjoyed spending time with loved ones. He was always kind to everyone he met. He loved to pull jokes on his family and friends.
He was a family man. He married the love of his life, Daphne Cannon Prestage in March of 2003. He took pride in all of his children as well as all of his other relatives. His mother, Martha, guided him early in his life to be the best that he could be.
Billy is survived by his loving wife, Daphne; daughter, Lacie Nichole Mitchem (Samuel), Aberdeen; son, Daniel Prestage (Mallory), Detroit, Alabama; sisters, Wanda Prestage Nash, Pontotoc, Barbara Jean Hudson(David), Pontotoc, Carol Yagar, Amory, and Sondra Hulsey (Ricky), Greenwood Springs; brothers, Tommy Prestage, Aberdeen, Lewis Prestage, Aberdeen, and Larry Prestage Aberdeen; Kensley Smith, who was like a grandchild to him; special friend, Eddie Sanders; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Prestage; grandparents, James Alfred and Lou Ella Dill Roberts, Vardamen and Cleta Prestage.
A celebration of life service will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, February 13, 2017, at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory. Bro. Justin Myers and Bro. Charlie Farrar will be officiating. Burial will follow at Pickle Cemetery in Splunge, MS. Pallbearers will be Johnny Belcher, Justin Hall, James Hall, Bobby Prestage, Lewis Prestage, Sr. and Lewis Prestage Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Prestage, Andy Hall and Eddie Sanders.
Visitation will be on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at the funeral home from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M.
