Smithville— Billy Fred Mobley, 56, passed away on June 28, 2018 in Tupelo. Born on January 25, 1962 in Cimarron, NM, he was a son of Wilbur Fred and Barbara Nell McLemore Mobley.
Known as “The Breeze” at Greenville High School, Fred graduated with the class of 1981. He worked with his father logging, which led to his career as a long haul truck driver. He has been to 49 states, all of them except for Hawaii. He met the love of his life, Audrey Henderson, and they married in 1982. Fred retired from driving in December of 2017. A family man who enjoyed life and served the Lord, Fred was a member of Cross Point Church in Tupelo, where he was part of the Men’s Bible Group. He loved the Lord and his family and was known by everyone for his heart of gold and loyal friendship. Fred spent his days spreading kindness and love to everyone, and he never met a stranger.
Fred enjoyed spending time with his family, going to church, and fishing. A true “cut-up,” he could bring a smile to anyone and always had fun. Fred was a very patient and generous man. He always made sure to provide for his family and serve the role as a supportive husband, father, and grandfather to his loved ones. In his free time, he enjoyed listening to many genres of music, but his favorites were Classic Rock, Gospel, and Country. He also loved to go picking antiques and check out yard and estate sales. His family will always cherish his memory and continue to spread his love. Fred leaves behind a legacy of kindness and generosity that will be forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.
Fred is survived by his daughter, Alicia Jones (Ray), Fort Knox, KY; sisters, Debra Lowery (David), Russelville, AL, Sheila Dodd (Bill), Fort Smith, AR; brothers, Doug (Doris), Carolina Community, Herman (Cass), Florence, Greg (Christy), Greenville, Danny, Greenville; grandchildren, Layla, Christian; special friend, Laurie Jenkins; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and grandparents, Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Henderson.
A funeral service will be held at 2PM Sunday, July 1, 2018, at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory. Bro. Reggie Miller and Bro. Tony Kelsie will be officiating the service. Pallbearers will include the men from Cross Point Bible Group. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Aberdeen.
Visitation will be from 12PM until the service hour on Sunday.
