Tupelo— Billy Don Jordan, 65, passed away on February 25, 2019 at Gilmore Memorial Hospital in Amory. Born in Vicksburg, Mississippi on August 25, 1953, he was the son of Billy Douglas Jordan and the late Mary Elizabeth Froman Jordan.
Billy graduated from Lee High School in Columbus, Mississippi. He then took vocational training classes for Radio Announcing. During his career, he worked as a radio announcer as well as in retail at the Army Surplus in Tupelo. Billy also worked with the Lee County Sheriff’s Department. He was of the Baptist Faith.
In his free time, Billy enjoyed golfing, bowling, and fishing. He was an avid reader. Additionally, he spent much of his time doing yard work. His children and family brought him his greatest joy in life. His family takes comfort in knowing that this is not a goodbye for Billy: it is a “see you again.”
Billy is survived by his father, Billy Douglas Jordan, Tupelo, MS; sons, Michael Jordan, Atlanta, GA, Christopher Jordan, Baldwyn, MS; grandchildren, Kristena Gentry (Andrew), Ashley Jordan; great-grandchildren, Emma Gentry, Derek Gentry, Amelia Barling; sister, Janet Riggan (Ronnie), Smithville; and nieces and nephews, Jeffrey Riggan, Julie Dabbs (Mike), Jasmine Riggan, and Gracie Riggan.
Billy was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jordan.
A graveside service will be held at Young Memorial Gardens in Smithville at 1PM Wednesday, February 27, 2019. Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Riggan, Ronnie Riggan, Jimmy Clements, Brad Clements, and Mike Dabbs.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 12PM-12:50PM at the funeral home in Amory.
