Billy Wayne Holley

Nettleton – Billy Wayne Holley, 68, finished his work here on earth and began his new life in Heaven on June 3, 2024. He was born on February 3, 1956, in Tupelo, MS to the late Herschel and Estelle Gann Holley.

Billy went to school in Nettleton and was a proud graduate with the class of 1974. A Patriot, Billy served in the United States Marine Corp from 1974 until 1976 and served in the Vietnam Evacuation. Upon returning home, he worked for True Temper Sports for over thirty four years. A man who had a great work ethic and was trustworthy, he was elected as president of the Union at work for several years. He especially loved operating heavy equipment & did so part time throughout his time at True Temper Sports & continued to do so after retirement. He loved to operate a bulldozer more than any other type of heavy equipment. A great provider, God blessed Billy with three daughters and one son. He was thrilled when their family grew and he was blessed with five grandchildren whom he adored.

He was a loving, big-hearted man who was always the hardest worker in any job he was assigned. Billy had a soft spot for kids and the elderly and was loyal and resilient when times were tough. Above all, he believed in God and loved his family. One of his favorite & most beloved pastimes was to take his youngest daughter, Jayci to visit friends & out to eat at their favorite restaurants, which included Country Boys & Country Squire. They never met a stranger and you rarely saw one of them without the other.
When he set his mind to accomplishing something, he was always intentional making sure to stay focused to reach his goal. Billy could tell some great old stories and he always loved hearing others recount their life history and adventures. He enjoyed listening to classic, old country and rock music, and to the laughter and voices of his dear family while they enjoyed time together.

There is no doubt that his presence will be missed by his family and friends. This dedicated employee and wonderful father leaves behind a legacy of wisdom, caring, and most of all love.

He is survived by his daughters, Casey Poole (Gary), Mooreville, Kayla Bryant (Jason), Mooreville, and Jayci Holley, Nettleton; a son, Hunter Holley, Nettleton; grandchildren, Garrett, Emma Jane and Ben Thomas Poole; Sawyer and Millie Bryant; three brothers, Johnny Holley (Donna), Amory, Randy Holley, Nettleton, and Gary Holley (Beth), Savannah, Georgia; Brother-in-law, Wayne Kuykendall, West Point; sister-in-law, Wanda Holley; and one Uncle, Wade Holley (Cheryl); a host of nieces and nephews.
