Amory- Billy Brooks Herron, 70, died Friday, March 29, 2013 at his residence in Amory. Born December 31, 1942, he was a son of the late Millie Moore Herron.
Billy grew up in and attended school in Lamar County, AL and was of the Baptist faith. Billy served with the Army National Guard for 15 years, was a truck driver, patrol officer in Hatley and Amory, security guard at True Temper Sports, and an equipment operator for Monroe County Road Maintenance. Billy enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, working on stuff, eating out with family and friends, and watching Westerns on TV.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Herron, Amory; daughter, Sherry Burrough, Amory; sisters, Helen Otts Greene, Sulligent and Mary Sue Gosa, Athens Community; grandchildren, Carlos L. Magallon (Brandy), Juan Magallon, Jose Magallon all of Amory, Jesse Magallon, Fort Polk, LA; great grandchildren, Isiah, Julian, Alex, Sophia, and Consuela Magallon; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his son in law, Billy Burrough.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 PM, Monday, April 1 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Glen Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ronnie and Randy Smith, Ronnie and Eric Otts, Dusty Sandlin, and Tracy Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Gosa, Michael Cox, and Randy Otts.
Visitation will be from 5-8 PM, Sunday, March 31 at the funeral home.
