Betty Stanford

Betty Stanford, a cherished and devoted matriarch, departed this life on February 3, 2025, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Amory. Born on December 30, 1962, in Marion County, Alabama to the late Dossie and Lether Mae Higgins. Betty exemplified the essence of kindness, warmth, and resilience throughout her life, earning her place as the backbone of her family.

As a cook in the deli at Food Giant in Amory, she infused her culinary creations with love and care, nurturing not only those she served but also her own family, whom she adored above all else. Her entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as she co-owned Stanford's Plumbing and Repair Service, further demonstrating her unwavering commitment to her community and her loved ones.

Betty's personality was a tapestry woven with threads of sweetness and selflessness; she consistently put the needs of others before her own. A devoted Christian, she embraced her faith wholeheartedly, allowing it to guide her through life's challenges. Her hobbies echoed her gentle spirit—she found joy in reading, hunting for rocks, taking boat rides, and spending time with her closest friends, Debbie Higgins and Jackie Pargo. Perhaps most endearingly, she sang lullabies to her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will resonate through the generations.

Her proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly raising her family, a testament to her enduring love and dedication. She is survived by her beloved husband, Bryan Stanford, her adoring children, Amber Stanford and Christopher Stanford (Kimberly); and her brother, Jerry Higgins. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Carlie, Bailey, Kaitlynn, Jolie, Olivia, and Bentley and her great-grandchildren, Prelee, Hadlee, and Wrenleigh.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Dossie and Lether Mae Higgins; her son, Joseph Stanford; her sisters, Linda, Dorothy, and Doris; and her brothers, Roy, Bob, Doyle, Joseph, Thomas, David, and Mickey. Each of these individuals held special places in her heart, and their absence leaves an immeasurable void.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on February 6, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life, honoring Betty’s spirit from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
