Smithville – Betty Pearl Kennedy Seymore, 81, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017, at Gilmore Memorial, Amory. Born on November 27, 1935, in Okolona, she was a daughter of the late Archie Benjamin and Artie Mae Hollis Kennedy.
Betty attended Bigbee School. She married the love of her life, Joe Seymore. As a seamstress, Betty worked at Reed’s in Nettleton and retired from Town Creek Furniture because of health reasons. Strong-willed, Betty used her determination to battle cancer for 30 years. A lady who was very strong in her faith and loved the Lord, she was a member of Independent Church of the Lord Jesus. She truly believed that “All things are possible with God.”
Betty’s life was surrounded by her faith and her love for family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Quick witted, she could make anyone laugh. Betty enjoyed fishing for catfish, brim and drum. Gospel was her favorite music. Her legacy of love for God and family will continue live through her family.
She is survived by her son, Curtis Lee Young (Patricia), Amory; brothers, Floyd Dexter Kennedy (Martha Louise), Amory; and Dwight Dexter Kennedy (Susan), Bigbee; grandchildren, Albert Young (Anita), Betty Presley and Odean Young; great-grandchildren, Brittany and Jeremy Presley; David and Braxton Young; Sarah, Lacey and Josh Poteet; numerous nieces and nephews; many special friends.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Seymore; sister, Nancy Alice Kennedy; brothers, Albert Benjamin, Leasel Marion, and Thomas Marion Kennedy.
Her Funeral Service will be at 2 PM, Tuesday, July 4 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Bro. Larry Monaghan officiating. Burial will be in Kennedy Haven Cemetery, Amory. Pallbearers will be Albert Young; Randy and Larry Presley; Brian Pearson; Sam and Donnie Kennedy. Honorary pallbearers will be Byron Kennedy and Daniel Pearson.
