Amory – Betty Kirkpatrick Rogers, 84, died on November 20, 2013, at River Place Nursing Center. Born on May 30, 1929, in Amory, she was a daughter of the late Giles H. and Mary Katherine Humphries Kirkpatrick.
Mrs. Rogers was a graduate of Amory High School, Class of 1947. On October 15, 1950, she married Hal T. Rogers, Jr. For many years, she was employed with Security Bank of Amory and later worked as a secretary for Amory Public Schools until her retirement. A loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Rogers was a member of First Baptist Church, Amory, a life-member of Amory Junior Auxiliary, and a former member of the Amory Fidelia Club.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Hal T. Rogers, Jr., Amory; daughter, Mary Rogers, Jackson; son, Dan Rogers and wife, Carol, Amory; grandchildren, Mary Katherine “Katie” Rogers, Amory, Sarah Hodo, Amory, and Todd Lee, Evansville, IN; niece, Mary Nan Hodo, Amory; nephews, Sam Haskell, III, Oxford, James Haskell, Denver, CO, Bill Haskell, Gulf Breeze, FL, and James Richard Kirkpatrick, Kingsville, TX; several great-grandchildren; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Nell Haskell; and brothers, James and Eugene Kirkpatrick.
The family wishes to express its thanks and gratitude to Dr. Bill Rogers and his wife, Deborah, Dr. Dwight McComb, the nurses and staff at River Place Nursing Center, Sandi Stevens at Lifeline Companions, and all the very special caregivers for their dedicated service and care.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:30 PM, Friday, November 22 in Masonic Cemetery with Dr. Allen Simpson and Bro. Jimmy McFatter officiating. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home at 2PM to go in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Haran “Bubba” Young, Jr., Wayne Thompson, Dick Millender, Hobdy Bryan, Tom Kirkpatrick, and Eddie Holden. Honorary pallbearers will be Doyle Harris, Richard Wall, Jackie Spencer, and Mike Price.
Visitation will be from 12 – 2 PM, Friday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home.
