Mantachie – Betty Vance Naron, 104, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Countrywood Plantation. Born on April 28, 1907, in Chickasaw County, she was a daughter of the late George Coleman and Martha Ann Kellum Vance.
She married B. F. Naron in June 1930. Mrs. Naron moved to Amory with her family in 1939, where she lived until moving to Tupelo in 1996, to live with her daughter. In 2008, she moved to Countrywood Plantation Assisted Living in Mantachie. She was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Tupelo and a former member of East Amory Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, church treasurer and clerk. A homemaker, Mrs. Naron sewed for the public. Her faith and family were very important to her. She enjoyed listening to Gospel music, watching Gospel Channel 39, cooking, sewing, and gardening. Having a love for children, Mrs. Naron loved babysitting.
She is survived by her daughter, Bettye Jo “B. J.” (Bill) Hagan, Tupelo; daughter-in-law, Gay Naron, Port Orchard, WA; grandchildren, Tim (Sandra) Walls, Amory, Darlene (Phillip) Waycaster, Nettleton, Lynn (Charles) Dinwiddie, Camden, TN, Jerrie (Bill) Greever, Bartlett, TN, Frank (Tina) Naron, Spenceport, NY, Wendell Naron and Rhonda Steward, Port Orchard, WA, and Todd (Regina) Hagan, Corinth; 16 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, B. F. Naron in 1987; son, Harold F. Naron; and daughters, Bobby Ruth (James) Walls and Jimmie Nell (Burtis) Brewer.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 PM, Sunday, May 15, 2011, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro. Bob O’Neal officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, great-grandsons, and great-great-grandsons.
