Betty Jean Loden Cook

Memphis, Tenn - Betty Jean Loden Cook, 81, passed away October 27, 2016 at home in Memphis, Tennessee with her family by her side following a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born and raised in Amory, Mississippi. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Vera and Charlie Loden as well as her siblings: Travis Loden, Farrar Loden, Jerry Loden, Charlie Mae Hester, Ramona Gardner, and Edith Whitten.

She is survived by her brother, Millard Lee Loden (Uncle Sonny) of Amory, MS, three children: Gail Cook Akey (Bill) of Germantown, TN, Lynn Cook Clay (Tim) of Germantown, TN, and Drew Cook (Cindy) of Cordova, TN; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

She was a strong and faithful woman and a devoted mother, mother-in-law, and “granny” who loved gardening and playing tennis and left her family with loving and wonderful memories. Visitation will be Sunday, October 30 at Serenity Funeral Home, 1638 Sycamore View Rd, Memphis, Tennessee from 1:00 to 3:00 pm followed by a service and reception. Burial will take place in her hometown of Amory, Mississippi on October 31st. in Haughton Memorial Park following visitation at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home from 2:00 -3:30. Graveside service will be at 3:45 P.M. Monday October 31, 2016. Family members will serve as Pall Bearers.
