Amory – Betty Cliett Dabbs, 66, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at her residence. Born on May 28, 1948, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Doyle and Sally Manning Cliett.
She graduated Tunica High School in 1966. She went on to attend MUW and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. In 1971, she married Tommy Morrow and they had two daughters together. They were happily married until 1987, when he passed away. In 1992, she married Jesse Dabbs and they were married until 2002 when he passed away. Betty was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church and the UMW Group. She retired after 30 years of service with the State of Mississippi in social services. She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for forty years. She enjoyed volunteering with the Amory Food Pantry.
Survivors include her daughters, Sally Morrow Axton (Chris), Amory, Suzanne Morrow Shrum (Travis), Nashville; grandchildren, Thomas, Joseph, Phillip and Mary Kathryn Axton, Amory; Anna and Emily Shrum, Nashville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two beloved husbands, Tommy Morrow and Jesse Dabbs.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Friday, May 1, 2015, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Rev. Brian Gordon officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Chris Axton, Travis Shrum, Thomas Axton, and Joseph Axton.
Visitation will be from 5 - 8:00 PM, Thursday at the funeral home.
