Born in Guin, AL, she was the daughter of the late Greely and Winnie Palmer Brown.Mrs. Cantrell attended Splunge Elementary School and graduated from Amory High School, Class of 1947, where she was a majorette. A seamstress and a sales clerk, she worked at The Dorothy May Shop and at Casulaire. An active, passionate and longtime member of First Baptist Church, Amory, Mrs. Cantrell was a member of Mary Lib Francis’ Sunday school class. She was also an honorary member of Quincy MB Church. Having a huge Christian influence on her family, Mrs. Cantrell enjoyed spending time with her family and playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a former member of The Garden Club, The Home Demonstration Club and sewed for many people in Amory. A ten-year member of Curves in Amory, Mrs. Cantrell loved her time exercising and visiting with friends there. She enjoyed spending time with her husband, who was the love of her life, listening to Gospel music with him, walking, and talking with her sister on the telephone.She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jasper “Jack” Cooper Cantrell, Amory; sons, Jerry C. (Jenny) Cantrell and Jimmy (Norma) Cantrell, all of Amory; sister, Katherine B. King, Warrior, AL; grandchildren, Carol Cantrell (Josh) Knight, Amory, Ashley Cantrell (Kevin) Springfield, Brownsville, TN, and Casey Cantrell, Amory; great-grandchildren, Addison and Silas Knight, Connor and Cody O’Fallon, Abbi Lee Springfield, Kylie Harbin, and Cameron and Kenleigh Hadaway; niece, Julie Jett and nephews, Johnny and Tommy King. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, W. C. “Dub” King.A Celebration of Life service will be held at First Baptist Church, Amory, on Sunday at 2 pm with Dr. Allen Simpson and Rev. Jimmy McFatter officiating. Burial will follow in Durrett Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Terry Burks, Gregg Moore, Tommy King, Johnny King, Jackie Palmer and Wayne Faulkner. Honorary pallbearers will be Mary Lib Francis’ Sunday school class and friends from Curves of Amory.Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Saturday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory. Mrs. Cantrell will lie-in-state at the church on Sunday from 12:30 PM until the service hour.Memorials may be given to the Mission Center Fund or the Benevolence Fund at First Baptist Church, P. O.
