Smithville - Mrs. Bessie Mae Armstrong, 80, died on July 26, 2016, at North Mississippi Medical Center, Tupelo, MS. Bessie was born on May 18, 1936, in Becker, Mississippi. She was a daughter of the late Hollis and Icey Best Jackson.
Bessie Mae Becker school and went to work at a young age and she worked at Shaw Manufacturing as a Supervisor. Bessie Mae married James Rae Armstrong and together they were blessed with two children. Bessie was of the Baptist Faith and she enjoyed being outdoors. A compassionate lady, she really loved her animals, especially her dog Princess. She enjoyed visiting with people and fishing, especially for catfish. Her flower gardens are where she loved to spend time. She also liked to listen to Country and Gospel Music and George Jones. Some of her hobbies included crocheting and gardening.
Survivors include her sons, Teddy Armstrong, Smithville, MS, Eddie Armstrong, Smithville, MS; grandson, Mitch Armstrong, Pontotoc; great-grandchildren, Kyle Flood, Wren, Brody Tate, Aberdeen; sisters, Margaret Harris, Becker, MS, Ruth Errick, West Point, MS; brothers, Claude Jackson (Nancy), Smithville, John Jackson, Smithville; a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Cagle; brother, Ray Jackson.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM, Friday, July 29, 2016, at Masonic Cemetery in Amory with Bro. Malcolm Tidwell officiating .Pall bearers will be Daniel Armstrong, Josh Armstrong, C.G. Holerook, Harold Cagle, Richard Cagle, and Chris Moody. Honorary pall bearer will be Roy Armstrong.
Visitation will be on Friday, from 2-4 PM at the Funeral Home in Amory.
