Olive Branch – Bennie “Pennie” M. Pennington, passed from this life on Monday, August 15, 2011, at Baptist Hospital, Memphis. Born on April 16, 1927, in Monroe County, she was a daughter of the late Daniel R. and Rosa Belle Pulliam Montgomery.
She loved to read and spend time caring for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Unfortunately, her shaking hands kept her from doing a lot of the things she enjoyed.
She is survived by a son, Douglas W. Pennington (Debbie), Olive Branch; sisters, Pernie Hester, Memphis, Tula Hollingsworth, Athens Community, and Alice Best, Becker; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Pennington; daughter, Judy Fenton; 4 sisters; and 3 brothers.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, August 18 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Wesley Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in Hatley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Edward Best, Richard Montgomery, Steve Hester, Michael Pennington, Chris Pennington, and Dwight Holcombe. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Rorie, Wayne McKinzie, Bobby Cox, Bobby Hollingsworth, and Tommie Best.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the service hour on Thursday.
