Bennie “Buddy” Perrell Mims, Jr.

Tupelo – Bennie “Buddy” Mims, Jr., passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023 in Wren, Mississippi. He was born on February 17, 1965, in Amory, Mississippi to Margaret Turner Ware and the late Bennie Perrell Mims, Sr.
Buddy grew up in Monroe County and was a graduate of Okolona High School. He went on to further his education at Mississippi State University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Business. His career began at Federal Land Bank in Starkville. He then went to work for over thirty four years for Farm Bureau Insurance. He eventually became the district claims manager for northern Mississippi and he helped so many people through the years. Buddy took great pride in his job and he was always a problem solver, helping people in times of need.

He married the love of his life, Krisha Mitchell Mims, on May 24, 2008 and together they were blessed with three children. Through the years they had made many great memories. His family meant the world to him and he was a strong man, always put them first in all situations. He was calm, never got upset and had a great sense of humor. He was involved with his children’s school activities and loved spending precious time with them. He was especially proud of them and how they had grown up and flourished. Buddy was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church where his family worshipped and gathered with their church family. He was a Sunday School teacher at Harrisburg Baptist. He believed in helping others and was passionate about St. Jude, Special Olympics events and The Shriners.

Buddy loved all things outdoors and he enjoyed cattle farming and just being surrounded by nature. He would often jokingly say “Cow Brownies smell like money”. He liked to go hunting and fishing, especially for Crappie, as well as arrow head hunting. He was a great cook, watched many hunting shows and really loved tending to his cattle. He was the founding member of the Prospect Hunting Club.

He was a great guy who will be missed so much by his family, friends, as well as all the customers and coworkers he worked with through the years. His family appreciates all the thoughts and prayers at this time. They have faith in God’s saving Grace and that God has him in His Hands.
