Amory – Benjamin Wallace “Ben” Scott, 61, died on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at NMMC, Tupelo. Born on July 21, 1953, in Amory, he was a son of Lucy Bourland Scott and the late Wallace Scott.

Ben was a graduate of Amory High, Class of 1971, and attended MSU. He married Minnie Hester on June 4, 1977. Ben was a painting contractor and metal works artist. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. One with a huge, tender heart who was gentle, patient, humble and giving, Ben was a gentleman who always looked out for others. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working with his hands, boating and being on the water, target shooting with his children and friends, and all kinds of music.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Minnie Scott, Amory; mother, Lucy Scott, Amory; daughter, Camille Scott Bickerstaff (Lance), Knoxville; sons, Benjamin Wallace Scott, Jr. and Charles Dylan Scott of Amory; sisters, Lynn Haley (Johnnie), Amory, Dale Stanford and Semmie Wicker (Tom), Tupelo; father-and-mother-in-law, Herman and Paula Hester, Amory; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Scott.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, November 20 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jimmy Criddle officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Ned Young, Dan Rogers, Ben Cother, Boyd Pearson and Dewayne Laney.

Visitation will be from 9:30 – 10:50 AM, Thursday at the church.
