Amory – Becky Easter, 80, died on Thursday, December 22, 2011, at Darlington Oaks, Verona. Born on November 13, 1931, in Amory, she was a daughter of the late George and Emma Jane Rye Holt.
Mrs. Easter attended Quincy School and played basketball and graduated from Greenwood Springs High School. She married Herbert Easter on September 14, 1984. Growing up in the Missionary Baptist Church, Mrs. Easter and her brother and sister-in-law used to sing a many church services. A great mother with a wonderful sense of humor, she was known for her smiles, compassion, and for helping others. Before becoming a homemaker, she worked as a Nurse’s Aide in Salina, KS. Mrs. Easter enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren; traveling; shopping; playing pool; and fishing.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert “Pops” Easter, Columbus; daughters, Cindy Powell (Terry), Salina, KS, Debra Hamilton Kelly (Thomas), Columbia, SC, Carol Ebenthal (Thomas), Columbus, Helen McKinley (Mike), Westville, FL, and Angela Howard (Bernard), Columbus; son, Bert Easter, Columbia, SC; sisters, Sylvia Hollis (Lesial), Vernon, AL, and Darlene Roper, Nashville, TN; brother, Herbert Holt (Mary Agnes), Amory; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Annie Mae Holt and a brother, John Holt.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, December 24 in Haughton Memorial Park with Bro. Julian Thompson and Bro. Robert Moore officiating.
Everyone is asked to meet at 9:30 AM, Saturday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
