Born on March 1, 1926, in Hamilton, AL, she was a daughter of the late Sam Allen and Ella Colburn Metzler.Mrs. Parker attended Hamilton, AL, Schools. At a young age, she became the caregiver for her brothers. Mrs. Parker worked as a seamstress in the garment factories in Amory, Hatley, and Smithville. A charter member and a very faithful member of Meadowood Baptist Church, she was a former children’s Sunday school teacher and a WMU member. Her life was guided by her faith in God, her family, and her friends. Mrs. Parker cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed Gospel music, gardening, canning, and sewing. Moving to Hiram in 2006, one of her favorite pastimes was watching people play golf as they passed by the house.She is survived by a daughter, Pat Allen (Sam), Hiram, GA; granddaughters, Kim Goolsby and Beth Brace, both of Hiram, GA, and Laura Wallace, Dallas, GA; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Dewey Allen, Robbie Allen, Dutsy Allen, James Allen, all of Alabama, and Troy Ray Allen, Peoria, IL; sister, Carolyn Hall, Nettleton and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Parker; brothers, Vodry and Verdo Allen; and sisters, Annie Colburn and Virginia Sickle.A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at Meadowood Baptist Church with Dr. Lloyd Sweatt officiating. Burial will follow in Hatley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Wallace, Jason Brace, Drew Queen, Todd Goolsby, Sam Allen, and Daniel Flippo.Mrs. Parker will lie in state at the church from 11 AM until the service hour.Memorials may be given to Meadowood Baptist Church, 1512 Hatley Road, Amory, MS 38821.Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at eepicklefuneralhome.com.
