Basil Sizemore

Smithville, Miss.—Basil Adolphus “Bass” Sizemore, 91, died on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at his home. Born May 31, 1922 in Beaverton, Ala., he was a son of the late Robert and Madgie Savannah Minor Sizemore.

He married Thelma Lou Tucker in 1945. A lifelong resident of Smithville he was a veteran of World War II, being wounded twice and receiving many medals and awards. Before his retirement, he worked for Palmer Machine Works and he enjoyed watching WWF, gardening, and deer hunting. He was Baptist.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Bro. Tommy Whaley officiating. Burial will be in the Greenbrier Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 67 ½ years, Thelma Lou Sizemore of Smithville; one daughter, Peggy Gregory (E.J.) of Smithville; 4 grandchildren, Sherry Montgomery (Richard), Renee Caldwell (Chris), Edwin Gregory (Angela) and Patti Causey (Mike); 5 great grandchildren, Eric Mills (Latasha), Daniel Montgomery (Stephanie), Amber Pearson (Matt), Taylor Causey (Dillon Scruggs) and Mallory Causey; 4 great-great grandchildren , Drew and Ayden Gideon, Anna Grace Pearson and Georgia Kate Mills; one sister, Anna Atkinson of Alabama; caregivers, Allison Robinson and Terri Earl; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, June, Paul, Arthur Lee Sizemore, and infant boy; sisters, Vera Mae McKlusky, Earleen Jenkins, Tommie Faye Sizemore and baby girl; daughter Katie Nell Sizemore; and great grandchild, Allie Gregory.

Pallbearers will be Edwin Gregory, Richard Montgomery, Daniel Montgomery, Matt Pearson, Eric Mills, Gregory Caldwell, Chris Caldwell, and Dillon Scruggs. Honorary pallbearer will be Mike Causey.

Visitation will continue until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
