Barbara Sizemore

Amory - Barbara Ann Sizemore, 86, passed away on July 31, 2022 at River Place Nursing Center, surrounded by family. Barbara was born in Smithville, MS on August 14, 1935, to Travis and Maxine Brasfield.

Barbara met and married Billy Sizemore in 1952 and started a family, and were blessed with two daughters, Mitzi and Matissa (Bo).

Through the years Barbara worked a variety of jobs from being a seamstress for many of the events at Amory High School, but most of her working years were spent as a Floral Designer at Amory Flower Shop, Barbara’s Flowers, and Holly’s Petals and Presents. She loved gardening and flowers and being outdoors. She was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing with her grandchildren as they caught their first fish. She was a great cook and enjoyed having people over, and she loved to go out shopping for amazing deals any chance she could.

She also lived in Tupelo, Fulton, and for seven years with her daughter, Mitzi, in Nashville, TN, before returning to Amory for the last seven years. She owned a condo in Nashville that she decorated beautifully, and planted a lovely flower garden and landscaping. She enjoyed concerts, festivals, and even attended the ballet and opera. They were members of Bellevue Baptist Church in Nashville, before returning to Amory where they attended Forward Church.

From the very first grandchild, Barbara became affectionately known as “Baba” and loved her grandchildren more than life itself. She would collect Christmas and birthday presents throughout the year, and the grandchildren would eagerly await to see what treasures Baba had found for them. It is a priceless memory of love that they have.

Survivors include her children, Mitzi Sizemore, of Amory, MS; Matissa “Bo” Pullen, of Punta Gorda, FL; grandchildren, Bob Pullen, Katie Brokaw, and Maddie Fliedner; great-grandson, Alexander Brokaw; her sister, June Jordan; nephews, Mark Lee and Monte Brasfield; and former spouse, Billy Sizemore.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Travis and Maxine Brasfield.

A Service honoring Barbara’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, MS, and visitation will be from 9:00 am until the service hour at 10:00 am.

Those attending the Service are asked to wear bright clothes in honor of Barbara.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s foundation or a charity of your choice.
