Avinell “Nell” Nash
Amory – Joyce Avinell “Nell” Dill Nash, 94, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 at North Mississippi Medical Center, Tupelo, MS. Born on January 15, 1927, in Smithville, MS, she was a daughter to the late Neal T. Dill and Claida Little Dill.
Nell grew up in Monroe County and graduated from Smithville High School. She married the love of her life, Charles David Nash on November 30, 1946, and together they were blessed with three children. She was a Christian and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Nell was a people person and helped her husband support their family. She worked initially at Amory Garment Factory and then she was a Book Keeper for several years for Nash Sand and Gravel Company. Lastly, she had a great job, where she greeted outsiders with a smile at Walmart. Throughout life, she taught her children the importance of a great work ethic and she was proud of the paths they took in life.
In her free time, she liked to read any kind of book, spend precious time with her family, and going fishing. She had a green thumb and was able to plant and grow all sorts of beautiful flowers in her gardens. A witty woman, she was joyful, loving and humble always. She was wise, having lived a long life and she passed her wisdom onto her kids and grandkids.
She will be missed dearly and the memories of her will be cherished forever.
She is survived by her daughters, Yolanda Wright (Gerry), Cleveland, TX, Mary Johnson, Amory, MS; son, Anthony Nash (Geralyn), Sterling, IL; 8 grandchildren, Kim, Craig, Cliff, Kitina, Jay Nell, Toni, Nikki, and Ethan; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Sheila Khan, William Harris, Dr. and Mrs. Nicholas Khan; cousin, Eddie Little.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. Nash and her sister, Dymple Harris (William).
A Graveside Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 11:00 am, at Haughton Memorial Park, Amory, MS with Bro. Dudley Nash officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park, Amory, MS.
