Amory- Rev. Arthur L. D’Haillecourt, 95, died Monday, July 29, 2013 at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center. Born February 21, 1918 in Mulberry, KS, he was the son of the late Henry and Amy Vanesse D’Haillecourt. Arthur married Margaret Ellender Eubanks October 11, 1941.
Rev. D’Haillecourt graduated school in Christopher, Ill, attended SIU in Carbondale, Ill and Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. Over 60 years ago, he dedicated his life to preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and began his journey as a pastor of numerous Baptist churches in Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Mississippi. Not only did he pastor existing churches, he was also involved in numerous church plantings. While pastoring in Ill, Rev. D’Haillecourt also worked as a mechanic and Service Manager for Ford Motor Co. He treasured his family, whom was always by his side, while he pastored for over 60 years. He enjoyed fishing and fellowshipping with friends at the Baptist “pot luck suppers.”
He is survived by his daughters, Judy D’Haillecourt, Greenwood Springs, Amy Hester, Amory and Joan Hood, Amory; sons, Henry “Hank” D’Haillecourt (Pat), Paducah, KY and Barry D’Haillecourt (Suzanne), Becker; sister, Alice Porviznik, Mt. Vernon, Ill; 5 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by sisters, Mary, Angel, Flora and Martha; grandchildren, Sabrina D’Haillecourt, Anthony Hood, Donissia Hester, Lisa D’Haillecourt and Cary D’Haillecourt; great grandchildren, Brandon Sprouse and Allison Cooper; special cousin, Marcell Reinald.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM, Friday, August 2 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Sammie McMillen officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will beSam Cooper, Jamey Brown, Brent Brown, Eddie Hester, Evan Hester, Tyler Sprouse, Shane Hood, Jason Hood, Mike Hood and Bryan Hester. Lindal Wray will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Visitation will be on Thursday evening at the funeral home from 5-8pm.
