Archie Majors

Amory – Archie Lee Majors, 82, died on Thursday, December 22, 2011, at Golden Living Center. Born on September 10, 1929, in the Bethlehem Community, he was a son of the late Artimus Timmy and Elsie Tubb Majors.
Mr. Majors attended Monroe County Schools. Working for Glenn Manufacturing as a presser, he retired in 1998. Mr. Majors was of the Baptist faith. A hardworking man, he was dedicated to his wife. Inventive, he could make anything out of wood. Mr. Majors enjoyed quail hunting, listening to Classic Country music, and going out to eat and taking vacations with his friends. Having a love for animals, especially dogs, he was close to his dog, Willa.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Faye Culver Majors, Amory; daughter, Rebecca JoAnn Majors Dill (Ralph), Amory; son, Danny Majors, Amory; sisters, Arvella Cox and Mary Jean Hurley (Drexel), of Amory; grandchildren, Kevin Dill (Brandy), Amory and Carrie Ligon (Tony), Smithville; and great-grandchildren, Rebecca Catherine and Caroline Aubrey Dill; and Triston, Tyler, and Blake Ligon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Deason; twin brother, Ernest Majors; son, Tommy Majors; and close friend, Roland Ausborn.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11 AM, Monday, December 26 in Masonic Cemetery with Bro. H. V. Brown officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl and Tommy Swan.
Visitation will be from 9 – 10:45 AM, Monday at the funeral home.
Everyone is asked to meet at 10:40 AM, Monday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
