Annie Colburn

Amory – Annie Mae Colburn, 94, died on Thursday, February 2, 2012, at Golden Living Center. Born on September 3, 1917, near Okolona, she was a daughter of the late Forrest Jackson and Viola Burt Whitt.
Mrs. Colburn married John Lee Colburn in 1935, in Okolona. Before retiring, she was a seamstress with Delta Trouser in Okolona. While retired, she enjoyed keeping children, especially her grandchildren, during the day. Moving to Amory in 1974, Mrs. Colburn was a member of First Baptist Church. Feisty and full of life, she looked forward to spending time with her family. Mrs. Colburn enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening, playing bingo, dancing, fishing, and listening to Country music, especially Vince Gill.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 PM, Saturday, February 4 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Dr. Allen Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alan Coleman, Alan Weeks, Jeff Colburn, Joey Mills, Derik Graves, and Rick Sanderson.
Visitation will be from 1:30 – 2:45 PM, Saturday at the funeral home.
She is survived by her brother, Jack Whitt of Oklahoma; son, John E. Colburn, Okolona; daughter-in-law, Ann Colburn, Amory; grandchildren, Debra Coleman, Steve Colburn, Curt Colburn, Donna Sanderson, Rhonda Weeks, Jeff Colburn, and Jennifer Beattie; great-grandchildren, David Conwill, Emily Tubb, Camille Weeks, Matt Colburn, Baylee Colburn, Laura White, Joey Mills, Derik Graves, Claudia Bounds, Ada Colburn, Rease Colburn, Jackson Beattie, and Elisabeth Beattie; great-great-grandchildren, Alex Conwill, Sarah Grace McGill, Collin Patrick McGill, Colby Mills, Chloe Mills, Blake Colburn, and Tristan White.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Gene Colburn; and sisters, Lillian Angles, Ethel Colburn, Millie Lucius, and Dorothy Webster.
