Anetta Ames, a beloved figure to many, was born on April 23, 1951, in the charming town of Leesville, Louisiana. She passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025, at Trinity Nursing Home, leaving behind a legacy woven with love, dedication, and a spirit that embraced life in all its complexities.
Anetta's professional journey began with prominent roles as a Lab Analyst at Kerr McGee, culminating in a fulfilling retirement from Tronox. Her work not only showcased her analytical skills but also her unwavering commitment to excellence in all endeavors she pursued. Education played a vital role in her life; she attended high school and furthered her knowledge at Itawamba Community College, enriching her mind and securing her future.
A woman of myriad interests, Anetta devoted her free time to civil war reenactment, proudly serving with the 1st MS Regiment Field Hospital. She found joy in antiquing, yard sales, flea markets, reading and relished the precious moments spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. These hobbies provided her not only with delightful memories but also a way to share her passions with those she loved, creating bonds that will be cherished for generations.
Anetta is survived by her loving daughters, Candace Marie and Rhonda Carter, and her numerous grandchildren: Kasey Carter, Dilan Cantrell (Sheyanne), Skyler Poole, Dalton Cantrell, Stormie Huff (Blake), Eli Cantrell, as well as her great-grandchildren, Aedan Cantrell and Laikyn Poole. She is also remembered fondly by her siblings, Linda Ames and Billy Ames (Angelica), who carry forth her memory and spirit.
It is with heavy hearts that we acknowledge the absence of those who preceded her in death, including her cherished daughter, Kasey Rushelle Carter; her father, William Minor Ames Jr.; her mother, Ila Mae (Cooper) Ames; her brother, Doyle Ames; and her sisters, Rita Jo Fair and Brenda Hawkins. Their memories continue to inspire and guide the family left behind.
In honor of Anetta's life, friends and family are invited to gather for a visitation on January 28, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, MS. A Celebration of Life will follow the next day, January 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM, where all who knew and loved Anetta are welcome to pay their respects and share cherished memories. She will be deeply missed but will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched with her warmth and kindness.
