Ann Burks
Smithville - Mrs. Jimmie Ann Burks, 65, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at a family member’s residence in Amory. Born on January 10, 1953, she was a daughter of the late Coy Layman and Myrtle Lee Lockhart Morris.
Ann attended school in Aberdeen. She was of the Baptist faith and she loved all people. She was blessed with three children and married the love of her life, Andy Burks, on August 4, 1989. Ann had a huge heart and would help anyone. She was meek, modest and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Ann loved to sing to her nieces and nephews when she was around them.
A kind hearted person, her passion was taking care of people. She worked many jobs, including several years at Arvins in Verona, at a coat factory, and she worked at Aberdeen Manor for two years. In 1992, she began working as a CNA at Golden Living, now Diversicare, where she worked until she became ill in 2018. She was proud of the 27 years she worked for Diversicare.
Ann loved reading romance novels and watching movies, particularly Elvis Presley movies. She loved her little dogs, going fishing, and playing Farmville on the computer. She was a fighter when it came to her illness and her family is proud of the battle she fought. Her memories will live on forever in the hearts of those that knew and loved her.
