Olive Branch – Mary Angelyn “Angie” Shelton, 59, died on October 3, 2013, at Baptist East Hospital, Memphis. Born on June 9, 1954, in Amory, she was a daughter of Ernest Kenneth and Mary Catherine Williams Adams.
Angie was a graduate of Amory High School, Class of 1972, and of Mississippi State University, Class of 1976. On July 25, 1976, she married Larry Shelton. Prior to working for and retiring from MAPCO Petroleum, Angie had worked for Ed’s Supermarket, Sterling’s, Peoples Drug Store, and BancorpSouth. She was a member of Maples Memorial United Methodist Church, Olive Branch and had served as the MYF Director. Loving, giving, helpful and having a big heart, Angie was passionate about the Kidney Foundation, American Heart Association, and American Diabetes Association. She enjoyed all types of music, hunting, MSU ballgames, and traveling.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Shelton, Olive Branch; brothers, Kenny Adams (Linda), Amory; sister-in-law, Paula K. Hurley, Amory; brothers-in-law, Kenny Shelton and Billy Owens, of Amory; several nieces and nephews; and numerous special friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Angelyn Rachon Shelton.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:30 PM, Sunday, October 6 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Chuck Herring officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Evan Adams, Wayne and Bubba Daughtery, Frank Davis, Mark Parham, Danny Parham and Phillip Williams. Honorary pallbearer will be Dr. B. J. Kelley.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Saturday at the funeral home.
