Amory – Amy Jo Riley, 78, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at Golden Living Health Center. Born on April 20, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Middleton Clark and Mary Lou Strain Clark.
Jo was a graduate of Bruce High School, Class of 1955. She married the love of her life, James Riley, on December, 25 1955. She spent her career as a dental assistant for Dr. Garland Boyd and was very proud to have been a part of establishing Dr. Boyd’s Dental Practice.
Jo was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Chancel choir, the United Methodist Women, prayer group, various committees throughout the church and served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. Her faith and the love for the Lord and her family were most important to her. Jo was a very compassionate individual. She was always helping those in need and knew how to make every person feel like they were the most important person in the world.
In her spare time, Jo loved to listen to the “King of Rock”, Elvis Presley. She also loved listening to the Big Band/Swing era music as well as Gospel music. Her hobbies included cooking, fishing and gardening. Her son and his family were the loves of her life. She will be fondly missed by her family and numerous friends.
Amy Jo Riley is survived by her son, Charles Riley (Sharon), Cason Community; her grandchildren, Chase McGuire (Joanne), Colorado Springs, CO; Alayna Riley, Cason Community; her great grandchildren, Callan McGuire, Aiden McGuire, Mason Riley; nieces and nephews, Gordie Haire, Earl Martin, Joy Doss, Jill Martin, Pam McCammon, Jeanie Logan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Riley; sisters, Madge Haire, Pearl Martin, Margie Smith; a nephew, Billy Joe Logan.
Her Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, Amory, MS. Rev. Brian Gordon will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Vincent Justice, David Hill, Danny Fulton, Eddie Wilemon, Jimmy Glenn, and Bill Griffith. Honorary Pallbearers will be the congregation of St. Andrews Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Bruce Cemetery.
Visitation for Mrs. Riley will be Monday, July 11, 2016 from 5-8 PM at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory.
