Born on October 15, 1932, he was a son of the late Romie and Ruby Frye Woods.Mr. Woods attended school in Sulligent. An entrepreneur, he had worked as a sawmiller, a machinist, and as a supervisor for power line construction before going into the logging and gravel trucking business. A man of faith, Mr. Woods was of the Baptist faith. Very dedicated and having a big heart, he cherished the time spent with family. Mr. Woods enjoyed listening to his wife sing, hunting, crappie fishing, Gospel and Country music, and being a fixer-upper. Mr. Woods used his humor to make others laugh as well as his determination to overcome life’s obstacles. A selfless servant, his passion was utilizing his gifts to the fullest to help others. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Imogene Sizemore Woods, Aberdeen; daughters, Shelia Delphine Box, Amory, Debbie Garvin (Freddie), Vernon, AL, Donna Hadaway (Eddie), Amory, and Jennifer King, Hatley; sons, David Woods (Zeda), Toccopola and Keith Woods (Tammy), Aberdeen; sisters, Patricia Robinson, Hamilton, AL, and Louise Dickerson, Muscle Shoals, AL; brothers, Braxton Woods, Beaverton, AL, and Jimmy Ray Woods, Hamilton, AL; grandchildren, Patrick, Matt, and Aaron Box; Annah Vinson; Wendy White; Crystal Kelly; Stacy Cantrell; Zach Lockhart; Jason May; Amy Holloway; Dusty May; Chris, Jerren, and Cody Woods; Emma and Dallas King; Andrea Wright; Jeff Alexander; and Carla Purdon; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheryl Varran Lockhart, and a son, Alton “Sonny” Woods, Jr..A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Monday, September 5, 2011, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Cherry officiating. Burial will follow in LoveJoy Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matt Box, Zach Lockhart, Cody Woods, Chris Woods, Garrett May, and Quinton May. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason May, Dusty May, Patrick Box, Aaron Box, Jerren Woods, Chuckie Harrell, Kenny Wayne Sizemore, Jody Evans, and Billy Pederson.Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Sunday at the funeral home.Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, P.
